"MASK"
I have always been intrigued and fascinated by masks. Masks are representational, and they can transform a person. Interestingly, often when one wears a mask, s/he has a tendency to become less inhibited, more relaxed, and as a result the true personality will shine through.
It was about two years ago, I came across a few drawings and colorings done by my daughter Sienna Mae. These particular drawings, had images with mask-like quality. This notion inspired me to do a series of mask sketches. Shortly after, I started introducing and incorporating them in my clay objects (functional & decorative).

"me MASK!"

by Bahereh

I made an impression of my face at the age of 50! called it, Bahereh 50, the Antiquity!

To leave an impression:-),

then, I made a press mold from that, and used it to make a few me mask in high fired stoneware clay and also made from clay and then raku fired.

"PeasheCAT"

PeasheCAT is the collaborative clay work of Bahereh Khodadoost-Heath and her daughter Sienna Mae Heath. They are based on Sienna Mae's cat drawings which are carefully transferred onto clay, then composed and elaborated on if necessary. The work of art is then glazed and fired in their family studio "Ginger Blue Clay Art Studio". The work has a very unique quality, they are as child-like as they are mature since they are the work of the free spirited 7 year old Sienna Mae and the 50 year old Bahereh. These collaborative clay works, which are based on Sienna Mae's drawings of her cat named Daisy, merge two cultures and two generations. They are sophisticated, yet very whimsical.

The name "PeasheCAT" is a marriage of two words: Peashe meaning Kitty in the Persian language, and the English word Cat.

Bahereh and Sienna Mae, who are both Libra's, have started their PeasheCat joint venture in August of 1996 in Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania.

Sienna Mae has a black cat named Daisy who lives in their studio with their canary named Hafez, and their love bird named Herana!
